Sixay furniture

Sixay furniture is a Hungarian design brand for handcrafted solid wood furniture. The company was founded in 1995 by László Szikszai (woodworking engineer and industrial designer) and Harry Gruen (Vienna). Szikszai combines both worlds in his person — engineering and industrial design. From the outset, the brand has been consistently oriented towards international markets. 1999: first public appearance in Hungary. From 2004: intensive trade fair presence in Vienna (Wohndesign at the Hofburg), blickfang Stuttgart/Zurich/Basel (from 2008) and 100% Design London (2010). Since 2010, distribution in Germany and Switzerland through specialised distributors as primary markets. Current headquarters: Kópháza, near Sopron, western Transdanubia, Hungary.

Material and craft principles: exclusively solid wood (beech, maple, oak, ash, cherry, walnut and black walnut), surfaces treated only with natural oils and waxes. Optional: leather or natural linoleum upholstery and glass inlays. Over 150 models in the programme, many unchanged for over 20 years — a commitment to timeless design. Awards: Interior Innovation Award 2014 (SIXtematic table with drawers) and BIG SEE Wood Design Award 2018. Partnership with AURO Naturfarben (Germany, since 1999). Range: chairs, bar stools, tables, beds, wardrobes, chest of drawers and sofas (LUMOS line).
