Domkapa
Domkapa is a Portuguese upholstered furniture brand, founded in 2009 in Rebordosa (northern Portugal) — initially operating exclusively as a private label, producing for other brands and clients while building over the years a deep process expertise in craft upholstery work. In 2017 the company took a decisive step: it established Domkapa as an independent brand with a new brand identity and a collection marketed under its own name. Domkapa is part of the Laskasas Group, to which the brand Laskasas also belongs. Philosophy: a haute-couture approach to furniture — every product is an opportunity to make the joy of the handmade visible. Four pillars: manual sewing techniques, high design solutions, comfort, quality materials. All materials — from timber to webbing and upholstery fabrics — are 100% sourced within Portugal. Production entirely local, involving small regional suppliers. Location: Rebordosa, Portugal.
Sewing craft: corded seams, piped seams, double topstitching, slotted seams, darts, tucks, hand-crafted pleats — executed mostly by hand rather than machine. Selected products: Matthew (sofa with a silent folding mechanism for armrests and backrest — continuously adjustable); Beaumont (sofa bed with single-motion opening system — opened without removing cushions); Jacques (sofa bed with zigzag and cross stitching details); Edward (modular seating system with angular and curved corner sections, end sections with high or low armrests, chaise longue and footstool sections); Juliet (armchair, fluid lines), Gram (armchair, slender and geometric form); Norah (dining chair). Complementary products: beds, benches, ottomans, poufs, chests of drawers, side tables, coffee tables, folding screens (cotton velvet-lined). Avery pouf: curved form with wooden base, usable as footrest, extra seat or side table (removing the upholstered top reveals a storage surface).
For architects and interior designers seeking a Portuguese upholstered furniture label for international residential, hospitality and contract projects — one that consistently processes local Portuguese materials, transfers a haute-couture understanding of upholstery to all product categories from sofas and armchairs to sofa beds and beds, and benefits from a solid company infrastructure within the Laskasas Group — Domkapa is the most precise address from northern Portugal: a house that since 2009 has demonstrated that craft sewing technique is the most convincing proof of luxury.
