Alinea Design Objects is the Belgian label of Leo Aerts, an interior architect based in Geel (Stationsstraat 169, 2440 Geel). The starting point is a 1987 commission: the Meta coffee table, which became a commercial success for B&B Italia. That early chapter prompted Aerts to establish furniture design as a discipline alongside his interior architecture practice. The Alinea Design Objects brand formally dates from 1995, when the Ziggy vase was launched — a sales success with more than 15,000 units sold.
Aerts' signature is timeless, functional and materially honest design that he deliberately positions beyond short-lived trends. Long before the mainstream, he worked within frameworks of longevity, cradle-to-cradle thinking and circular economy. The current range includes: Visibile and Visibile M display cabinets (award-winning, regarded as a classic in the category), UFO serving bowls, Zubazuba champagne cooler, Angelo M marble table collection, Angelo O cake stands, Isola rug, Nel Mezzo cabinet and the Twin chair. International awards include Red Dot Design Award, German Design Award, Good Design Award (Chicago) and AZ Award (Toronto).
For interior designers, Alinea Design Objects is relevant when sculpturally effective, high-quality individual objects with longevity are sought — beyond seasonal collections.
