Design moves into the organisation
Stephanie Jasny joins TEAM 7 creative leadership

TEAM 7 is giving design a permanent place within the organisation. The Austrian solid-wood furniture manufacturer has appointed Berlin-based industrial designer Stephanie Jasny to the newly created role of creative director. She will help shape the future design and identity of the brand while working closely with product development, marketing and interior design.
That turns a designer collaboration into something considerably bigger. Jasny will no longer contribute only individual products to TEAM 7 but will move closer to the strategic development of the brand itself. Managing director Stefan Emprechtinger puts the ambition clearly: “We want to give design even more weight at TEAM 7 in the future. Stephanie Jasny will shape this path with us and bring in new perspectives.”
The collaboration began with the nya table and chair, two of the key launches in the 2026 collection. The programme has since expanded to include complementary furniture and a kitchen. TEAM 7 describes nya as opening a new chapter in its design development. More organic, softer, more fluid – without abandoning the material that has defined the company for decades.
The nya table shows where that development is heading. Solid wood meets a sculptural aluminium base. For TEAM 7, that is not an insignificant move. Few furniture brands are as closely associated with natural wood, craftsmanship and material expertise. nya does not break with that heritage, but it clearly broadens the established design vocabulary.
And apparently the market likes it. According to the company, nya is one of TEAM 7’s most successful new product launches in retail for more than a decade. The nya table also received an iF Design Award 2026. Jasny’s appointment as creative director therefore looks less like the start of a new collaboration than the logical extension of one that is already working.
The move comes at a time when TEAM 7 is working on several strategic fronts at once. Internationally, the company remains strongly shaped by its export business. Managing director Stefan Emprechtinger put the export share for 2025 at around 84 percent.
The numbers behind the story look less comfortable. According to Wirtschaftscompass, drawing on the annual accounts filed with the Austrian commercial register, TEAM 7 Natürlich Wohnen GmbH generated revenue of 105.5 million euros in 2022, falling to 86.9 million in 2023, a decline of almost 18 percent. The swing in earnings was even sharper: the result from ordinary business activities went from a profit of 9.5 million euros in 2022 to a loss of 0.86 million euros in 2023.
The workforce has shrunk as well. According to the Austrian news magazine News, TEAM 7 employed around 550 people in 2026, 440 of them in Austria. In 2021, the company had reported 730. That makes its decision to add organisational weight elsewhere all the more interesting. Not only in sales, international expansion or production, but in design itself.
