Sphaer is a Vienna-based design studio for handmade lighting. It was founded in 2023 by designer Leni Piëch (born 1993). Piëch studied at the renowned Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London, graduating with a Master's degree in Innovation Management. Her studio-laboratory is located in the vineyard hills of Vienna — an environment where past and present intertwine and forms emerge that anticipate the future. Brand name: "Sphaer" = "sphere" — a reference to the infinite spaces of the cosmos and the exploration of unknown dimensions. Core materials: ceramics and glass (combined through craft processes). Collaboration with Turkish designer Bade Erol (trained in London in product design, specialising in lighting design at NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milan and Phillips Lighting University). Collections: Pythia (pendant lamps on delicate geometric balances), Eirene (pink blown-glass sphere within a transparent glass cylinder, ceramic composition as suspension, chrome-plated iron rod, orange ceramic and petroleum-green lacquered wood) and Bia (ovoid clear-glass sphere with a conical pink glass inner element, material contrasts with strong aesthetic presence).
