SITAP Carpet Couture Italia is a northern Italian rug brand. The company was founded in 1955 by Mario Bosoni in Piacenza — as one of the first entrepreneurs to recognise and systematically develop the design potential of natural sisal fibre rugs. In 1993, the Sitap Carpet Couture Italia brand identity was formally established from this tradition. In 2011, son Gian Mario Bosoni took over leadership and drove a fundamental repositioning. In 2014, his wife Barbara Trombatore joined as CEO and Creative Director, shaping the company with a design philosophy that combines haute-couture aesthetics, international craftsmanship and contemporary design. Each collection is renewed on a two-season cycle, analogous to the fashion world.
The showroom in Pontenure — between Milan and Parma — with over 1,000 m² of exhibition space is the largest carpet showroom in Europe. Collections: Alta Moda (haute-couture rugs), Prêt-à-Porter and bespoke contract rugs for hospitality, hotels, restaurant groups and office projects. Sustainability lines: Pet Lover (recycled PET), Upcycling (reworked vintage yarns) and Tencel™ (100% plant-based, handwoven fibre). Centro Stile SITAP: an internal creative laboratory led by Barbara Trombatore. Officina del Design SITAP: an open creative laboratory that opens rug design as a medium of expression to young Italian designers.
SITAP is for interior designers, hotel project developers and retail designers the leading Italian design rug address — with a 70-year company history, Europe's largest showroom in the sector and a range spanning bespoke one-off commissions through to full contract supply capacity.
