The company was founded in 1973 by Serge Ferrari in La Tour du Pin, Isère, Rhône-Alpes. In the very year of its founding, Ferrari invented and patented the Précontraint process — a manufacturing technique that bonds PVC coating and polyester carrier fabric under prestress, producing materials with a unique weight-to-performance ratio (lightness, strength and dimensional stability).
