Sedus

Sedus is a German office furniture company headquartered in Dogern, District of Waldshut, Baden-Württemberg. The company was founded in 1871 by Albert Stoll I. and Max Klock in Waldshut as "Stuhlfabrik Stoll & Klock". In 1926, Albert Stoll II. presented the world's first spring-mounted swivel chair with rotatable column-type spring suspension at the Leipzig Trade Fair — a patent that fundamentally shaped the development of ergonomic office seating. In 1958 the family business was split into two independent companies; the SEDUS brand was created for the operation of Christof Stoll. In 1985, Christof and Emma Stoll established the non-profit Stoll VITA Foundation and transferred their assets, including the company shareholding, to it. The second major shareholder is the Karl Bröcker Foundation. These two foundations form the ownership structure of Sedus Stoll AG to this day. The company employs approximately 1,000 people and generated revenue of approximately €236 million in 2022.

Production in Dogern and Geseke; nine subsidiaries in France, Italy, Spain, Austria, the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Dubai; distribution in over 74 countries. Range covers office swivel chairs, visitor chairs, desks and table systems, conference and meeting furniture, space division solutions and lounge furniture. Sedus was the first furniture manufacturer in Germany with EU EMAS eco-audit in 1995 and the first office furniture manufacturer in the world with EMAS III certification in 2010. Additional certifications: ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 45001 and SA8000. The SEDUS brand name has been in use since 1958; all products are Made in Germany.

Sedus is for architects, office designers and facility managers the historically grounded and technologically leading German address for ergonomic workplace furniture — with over 150 years of innovation history, a documented sustainability strategy and a unique non-profit ownership structure that safeguards long-term entrepreneurial independence.
