Casalis

Casalis is a Belgian textile and rug company, founded in 2000 by Francis Vercamest in Kortrijk (West Flanders) — a location with a historically deep-rooted tradition in linen and flax processing along the Leie river. The founding impulse came from Vercamest's experience in mass-production carpet manufacturing: he identified a market gap for rugs with strong design personality and founded Casalis with the aim of developing handcrafted products from high-quality natural materials in collaboration with independent designers. Art Director from the outset: Liset van der Scheer, one of the most prominent Dutch textile designers of her generation. The company's headquarters today occupy a renovated early-20th-century industrial building on the Kortrijk Bossuit Canal, converted with particular care for an old-new dialogue. Casalis distributes its products in over 32 countries.

Product categories: handcrafted rugs (cut, knotted, tufted — depending on collection), poufs (indoor and outdoor), acoustic panels and wall coverings. Materials: New Zealand wool, merino wool, Belgian linen, Tibetan wool, silk, bamboo, alpaca, mohair, Trevira® CS (for acoustic applications). Collections (selection): Buffo (long pile, NZ wool, 1970s aesthetic), Opera (mohair, inspired by theatre seat upholstery), Pello (100% alpaca), Aria (mohair or mohair/silk), Raja (Tibetan wool, hand-knotted), Sjette (Belgian linen + wool, hand-tufted, fully custom-made), Beiras (100% NZ wool). Acoustic competence: Casalis is regarded as one of the leading manufacturers of 3D-woven acoustic textile panels (so-called Architextiles). All products are made-to-measure or customisable — minimum waste as a sustainability principle.

For architects and interior designers, Casalis is the most differentiated Belgian address in the premium design textile segment: materially authentic, with a craft production network embedded in Kortrijk and an acoustic competence that reaches far beyond the classical rug.
