Ritzwell was founded in 1992 by Toshiaki Miyamoto in Fukuoka, Kyushu, Japan. The company designs and manufactures all furniture exclusively in Japan. Production sites are located in Fukuoka and at the Itoshima Seaside Factory, opened in 2019 nearby. Showrooms are in Fukuoka, Osaka and the Omotesando Shop & Atelier in Tokyo, inaugurated in January 2022. The European hub is in Milan. Ritzwell has participated regularly at Salone del Mobile since 2008. Creative director is Shinsaku Miyamoto, with the company since 2003.
The range covers sofas, lounge armchairs, benches, tables, sideboards and shelving. Materials are solid wood (walnut and oak), leather and steel. Fabrics are sourced primarily from Italy. Every product passes through an iterative feedback cycle of design, testing and refinement. The design principle is "organic modernism" — simple form, high-quality material beauty. Awards include the iF Design Award 2017, the Good Design Award 2017 and the Red Dot Design Award 2018 for the Jabara sideboard.
Ritzwell is a rare address in the international contract market — a Japanese furniture manufacturer whose products are positioned for high-end residential and hospitality projects, combining Japanese manufacturing philosophy with a Western-contemporary design sensibility. It is reachable in Europe via its Milan hub and international distribution network.
