The company is named after the world's most famous diamond. The company history begins around 1930 with the Scavini family, who initially imported and distributed toothbrushes with celluloid handles. In 1950 Carlo Scavini founded Koh-I-Noor Carlo Scavini & C., acquired from the Bratislava company not only the brand name but also know-how and patents, and started fully Italian production in Tradate. In 1995 the bathroom décor department was founded as an independent company unit. KOH-I-NOOR is registered in the Register of Historic Brands — a certificate for companies that have continuously distributed their brand on the national market for more than 50 years.
