KARE Design GmbH is a German design company for furniture, lighting and home accessories — founded in 1981 in Munich by Jürgen Reiter and Peter Schönhofen as students who wanted to furnish their own apartment and found no affordable designer furniture: "Let's build our own furniture and sell it in our shop." The first KARE store opened on 40 m² in the heart of Munich in Maxvorstadt.
