EPÒNIMO

EPÒNIMO is a Milan furniture brand, founded in 2014 by Federico Carandini — former creative director of Baleri Italia (2004–2013) and previously a furniture designer in New York (1990–2003, including for Ralph Lauren Home and as a lecturer at Pratt Institute and the University of the Arts Philadelphia) — and Alberto Colzani, who had consulted as a product developer for the same company for over ten years. The project launched at the Fuorisalone in Milan, where the first collection was presented. All products are manufactured by a network of local workshops, small businesses and craftspeople within a fifty-kilometre radius of the Milan office — made entirely by hand and always hand-finished. EPÒNIMO conceives its production more in terms of craft than industry. The brand name "Epònimo" (eponymous) denotes the unity of the founding personalities and the brand identity.

Concept and philosophy: the collection mediates between past and present — integrating familiarity with aesthetic and technical innovation. Familiarity is considered an indispensable ingredient for addressing the contemporary domestic landscape and reaching a wider audience without compromising aesthetic and cultural content. Most pieces are original concepts with a strong modern identity; some evolve from promising archetypes and models from the past. Mission: to find "an ideal and intelligent language of elegance and beauty between the minimal and the opulent." Product range: sofas, armchairs, chairs, tables, coffee tables, side tables and accessories. Materials: high-quality natural materials. Since launching, the collection has grown to over 50 products and is distributed worldwide to retailers and specifiers in the residential and contract business.

For architects and interior designers seeking for residential and contract projects a young Milan furniture brand that in 2014 emerged from the practical experience of two long-standing Baleri Italia protagonists, manufactures all products by hand within 50 km of Milan by a network of local workshops, formulates an intelligent middle position between tradition and innovation with the concept of "familiarity as design quality," and with over 50 products in worldwide distribution has a verified market presence — EPÒNIMO is one of the key addresses in the segment of craft-contemporary residential furniture with Baleri DNA.
