Cubit by Mymito
Cubit is a German furniture brand for modular interior systems, founded in 2006 in Düsseldorf by interior architect Minou Farkhondeh and entrepreneur Thomas Reichel. The starting point was a principle taken to its logical conclusion: not the company but the user decides on the final form of the furniture — by freely combining modules, the user steps into the role of designer. The core concept of the shelving system: 34 shelf modules (called "Bits for Living") in 24 different surfaces and finishes, combinable into individualised shelves, sideboards, TV units and bedside pieces. An integrated online configurator allows pre-planning of any configuration. All Cubit furniture is upgradeable: modules can be rearranged, split, extended with additional units or recombined — the furniture adapts to the changing needs of its user. Company: Mymito GmbH (cubit-shop.com), Ronsdorfer Str. 74, Düsseldorf. Sales: direct online.
In 2014 the range was extended to include a modular sofa system — developed in collaboration with designer Olaf Schroeder, who transferred the building block principle of the shelving system to upholstered furniture. For sofa production the company established its own upholstery workshop in East Westphalia. All Cubit sofas are manufactured there: Made in Germany, with direct quality control and short transport distances. The sofa system follows the same core principle as the shelving: seat cushions, backrests and armrests are freely combinable, and each individual module can also function as a standalone armchair. Alongside Cubit, the company operates the second brand Mymito, which works with a freer, less cubically defined design language. Full range: shelving systems, sideboards, sofas, armchairs, lamps. Product categories on Archiproducts: modular sofas, shelving, TV units, children's furniture (bookcases).
For architects, hospitality planners and interior designers seeking a price-accessible, fully customisable German furniture system with online configuration and proven upgrade capability, Cubit by Mymito is the most consistent Düsseldorf address — with a product principle that has structurally built the longevity of the furniture into its modular logic.
