CBdesign

CBdesign is an Italian outdoor furniture company for the contract market, emerging from the experience of Tanjaya, a furniture manufacturer specialising in teak and rattan processing. Design and brand management are based in Italy, while manufacturing takes place at the Jepara site (Central Java, Indonesia) — one of the world's most important centres for craft furniture production in tropical wood and weaving. CBdesign was among the first companies globally to systematically reinterpret the formal language of 1950s–1970s furniture: instead of traditional rattan, high-quality aluminium frames and modern synthetic fibre are used, preserving the aesthetics of the original while meeting the technical requirements of professional outdoor environments. The company addresses exclusively the contract market — hotels, resorts, gastronomy, pool areas and public open spaces.

Materials: Grade A teak (trees of at least 40 years' growth — naturally oiled, honey-coloured, smooth), epoxy powder-coated aluminium (uniform colour, high weather resistance, chlorine- and saltwater-proof), high-quality synthetic fibre (UV-resistant, non-toxic, colour-stable from -70°C to +80°C, stable even in salt water or chlorine), hand-woven cord in individual patterns and colour combinations. Awards: 2015 ASFD Pinnacle Award — Outdoor Category (Foglia Daybed), 2022 ASFD Pinnacle Award — Outdoor Category (Foglia Daybed), 2024 Archiproducts Design Awards Winner — Outdoor Category (Daisy Umbrella), 2025 German Design Award — Excellent Product Design (Daisy Umbrella). Products: lounge furniture, sun loungers (including Foglia Daybed), sofas, armchairs, tables, umbrellas (including Daisy Umbrella), modular systems.

For architects and hospitality designers seeking outdoor furniture with distinctive design character, long material lifespan and proven contract suitability for pool, beach and terrace areas, CBdesign is one of the most heavily awarded addresses of recent years — with a material understanding that combines tradition and high-performance synthetics in a convincing formal language.
