ALDES — originally Atelier Lyonnais d'Emboutissage Spécial — was founded in 1925 by Bernard Lacroix in Lyon, initially as a manufacturer of stamped metal ventilation grilles. Today the third generation of the Lacroix family leads the company; the headquarters remains in Lyon (Vénissieux). The ALDES Group is a family-owned international company with more than 1,900 employees across 21 subsidiaries in 15 countries and a partner network in approximately 40 further countries. In 2022, the acquisition of Aereco significantly strengthened the group's North American presence. 2025 marks the group's centenary.
The group's product portfolio — across the brands ALDES, Aereco, Acthys, Ribo, Exhausto and ZLT — covers ventilation, heating, cooling, domestic hot water production, central vacuum systems, fire protection and smoke extraction. The core ALDES brand specialises in indoor air quality and thermal comfort solutions for residential and commercial buildings. The production facility in Collégien (France) produces 3 million units annually. Current sustainability certifications: EcoVadis Silver Medal 2024 and 2025.
For architects and building services engineers, ALDES is relevant when integrated, code-compliant ventilation and indoor air systems are required for residential and commercial projects — with proven longevity and comprehensive systems expertise.
