Casamania & Horm is the joint platform of two independent Italian design furniture brands within the Horm Group, both rooted in the Province of Pordenone (Friuli, north-eastern Italy). Horm was founded in 1989 in Pordenone, with a name that in Aramaic means "sacred enclosure with right of asylum" — programmatic for a company philosophy that from the outset sought to offer designers and architects a creative space in which unusual ideas could meet craft realisation. Production is based on a network of qualified carpenters and cabinetmakers. Casamania was founded in 1984 in Brugnera (near Pordenone): as an experimental, ironic, eclectic brand for seating and furnishing accessories for residential, hospitality, office, bar and hotel environments. In 2017 Casamania was acquired by the Horm Group and has since been continued as an independent brand within it. The Horm Group today encompasses three brands — Horm, Casamania and Orizzonti Italia (founded 1983, specialist for beds and sofa beds) — and exports to over 80 countries.
Horm designer collaborations: Karim Rashid, Toyo Ito, Mario Botta, Sebastian Errazuriz, Steven Holl, GamFratesi, Luca Nichetto, Marco Piva and others. Iconic Horm products: Tango table (asymmetric legs, extendable), Autoreggente coffee table (Good Design Award). Casamania products: Him&Her chairs (polyethylene, created through 3D scanning of plaster sculptures showing the silhouettes of a seated man and woman; also suitable for outdoor use). Awards (Horm Group): 3 Compasso d'Oro (1998, 2004, 2008), 7 Compasso d'Oro Honourable Mentions, Red Dot Winner Award 2016, 4 Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Awards, 3 Interior Innovation Awards, iF Design Award, Archiproducts Design Award (2nd prize). 100% Made in Italy.
For architects and hospitality designers, Casamania & Horm offers two conceptually clearly distinct positions within a single sourcing structure: Horm stands for formal rigour and craft depth from Friuli, Casamania for a pop-affine, experimental counter-impulse — with a combined award track that is among the densest in the north-eastern Italian premium segment.
