Cane-line
Cane-line is a Danish furniture company specialising in indoor and outdoor furniture, founded in 1987 as a family business. The current owner and CEO is Brian Djernes, who took over company management in 1997 and in that same year initiated the expansion of the range to include outdoor furniture — previously the company had focused mainly on indoor furniture for Scandinavian furniture chains. Headquarters: Rynkeby (near Odense, island of Funen, Denmark). The company employs approximately 90 staff at headquarters and has production facilities in Indonesia and Lithuania. Cane-line is represented in more than 100 countries worldwide and operates own subsidiaries in Australia (Cane-line Australia, founded 2011) and the USA (Cane-line USA, founded 2017). The brand was awarded the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Denmark) in 2021.
Design philosophy: furniture based on the motto "Life made comfortable" — comfortable, functional, timeless and socially responsible. All Cane-line in-house designers and external design partners share roots in the Danish design tradition. Selected design partners: Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen MDD; Strand+Hvass (Niels Hvass and Christina Strand, Copenhagen); Welling/Ludvik (Hee Welling and Gudmundur Ludvik, Danish-Icelandic duo, Copenhagen). Proprietary development Cane-line Fibre: a proprietary synthetic weave from recycled material — UV-stabilised, weather-resistant, fade-resistant, producible in various textures and colours, designed for decades of outdoor exposure. Teak: exclusively FSC-certified from sustainably managed forests. Aluminium: powder-coated, corrosion-resistant, recyclable. QuickDry cushions: fast-drying, low maintenance. Sustainability programme: Cane-line Responsible — encompasses energy efficiency in production, reduction of packaging waste, responsible raw material sourcing, product design for longevity (Cane-line Fibre with multi-year outdoor guarantee; teak frames naturally develop a silver-grey patina over time without requiring treatment). Product range: outdoor furniture (lounge chairs, sofas, dining chairs, tables, sunloungers, hanging chairs, side tables), indoor furniture (natural materials, sculptural forms, modern simplicity), accessories.
For architects and interior designers seeking a Danish outdoor furniture programme for hotel outdoor areas, restaurant terraces, wellness facilities and private garden projects — one that has developed, with Cane-line Fibre, a proprietary branded material innovation from recycled raw materials, resolves all essential weather requirements through in-house material research, and is available in over 100 countries — Cane-line is the most precise Danish address in the contract outdoor segment: a house that has demonstrated since 1987 that comfort and durability are not in contradiction.
