Altek Italia Design is an Italian furniture company based in Zanè (province of Vicenza, northern Italy). The company was formally established in 2009, but the ALTEK brand dates back to 1987 and represents a production tradition in seating and furnishings handed down across four generations since 1920. Today Altek exports to more than 40 countries. The product spectrum ranges from chairs, stools, armchairs and sofas to tables, coffee tables and urban furniture — covering residential, office, lounge, waiting area and outdoor settings.
The brand history includes several internationally recognised products and awards: the Baba chair (Sergio Mian, copyright-protected since 1992, first presented at the Salone del Mobile in 1993) became an icon in the United States after Clint Eastwood used it prominently at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in 2012. The Vertigo collection (Florin Baeriswyl) won the Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum in 2004. The modular seating system AirWave (Charles Godbout / Topo Design, since 2018), designed for the contract market, was twice a finalist at Mixology North, won the Grands Prix du Design in 2019, was shortlisted for the Architizer A+ Product Award in 2021 and received the Good Design Award in 2022.
For hospitality and office planners, Altek is relevant when versatile, award-winning contract seating is sought — with manufacturing quality proven across generations and rooted in the metal and design tradition of northern Italy.
