Bachmann presents 18 innovations and new growth opportunities
19 millimetres can make quite a difference. At least when it comes to integrating power into furniture. With PIX UP, Bachmann is presenting a built-in socket at ORGATEC 2026 that fits even where there has traditionally been little room for technology. Clever engineering, discreet design. And for the Stuttgart-based power and data specialist, just one of 18 new products scheduled for launch in the second half of 2026. Eighteen! Bachmann is picking up serious speed in product development. So what's behind it?
Daniel Stuckert, Bachmann's marketing chief, explains during a tour of the trade fair stand that plenty of ideas had been in the pipeline for years. But development often took too long. That has changed. Development teams in Germany, Romania and China now work together in reorganised clusters. Coordination has improved, processes have become faster. And the results are now on display at the stand.
Small technology, big impact
PIX UP is one of the highlights. With an installation depth of just 19 millimetres, the socket can be integrated even into slim furniture structures. An interesting proposition for furniture manufacturers. After all, power connections are essential almost everywhere these days, but ideally, they should remain out of sight.
With AERA, Bachmann presents an elegant solution for premium workplaces, executive offices and hotels. NANO is the compact all-rounder for desk-sharing and small meeting areas. Thanks to its magnetic mounting system, GROOVE brings power and USB-C charging exactly where they are needed. And SIXTY integrates power and data into modern workplace concepts.
Five new products, five different approaches. What they share is the ambition to make technology a natural part of furniture and interiors. Furniture shouldn't have to adapt to the socket. It should be the other way around.
More speed, more opportunities
The 18 new products also reflect a new development strategy. For 2027, Bachmann is planning three to five product launches per business unit. Quite an ambitious programme. But Bachmann is not just looking to launch more products. The company also wants to broaden its strategic positioning. Alongside its traditional business in power and data connectivity, Smart Real Estate and Data Center Solutions are becoming increasingly important.
Smart Real Estate is about connecting power infrastructure with digital building technology. One application, for example, is measuring electricity consumption at individual workstations. For companies and those responsible for building management, this offers interesting opportunities to use office space more efficiently and gain better control over energy costs.
To make this possible, Bachmann combines its hardware with digital applications. What the company calls its "Digital Backbone" could play an important role in the smart buildings of tomorrow. Because when a socket provides not only electricity but also data on energy consumption, new possibilities open up for building management. And new business opportunities for Bachmann.
Getting closer to customers
Bachmann also sees potential in data centres. Particularly when it comes to critical infrastructure, supplier independence is an important consideration. Here, the company aims to position itself as an independent specialist in reliable power distribution.
And what about sales? Furniture manufacturers still account for more than half of Bachmann's office business. That channel will remain important in the future. At the same time, Bachmann wants to build closer direct relationships with architects, planners and professional end customers. A sensible move, especially as solutions become more complex and need to be considered at an early stage of project planning.
Bachmann certainly has plenty on its agenda. New products, faster development, additional markets and closer customer relationships. Since July, there's also been fresh momentum at the top: Steen Sørensen, previously CEO of Ubiqisense, a specialist in workplace occupancy analytics, now co-leads Bachmann alongside Peter Bachmann. His focus is on expanding the international business and strengthening sales. The company's appearance at ORGATEC shows where things are heading. And sometimes, a bigger transformation starts with something surprisingly small. Just 19 millimetres.
