Visionnaire is an Italian meta-luxury furniture brand from Bologna, founded in 2004 as an evolution of IPE — a company established in 1959 in Zola Predosa (Bologna) by brothers Pompeo, Vittorio and Carlo Cavalli, originally to produce polyurethane foam padding for Lancia automobiles. The first independent design output of what would become Visionnaire was the Mercury armchair, presented at the debut edition of the Salone del Mobile in 1961 — among the first upholstered seats made from moulded foam. The Visionnaire brand was built by the third generation — Leopoldo and Eleonore Cavalli — together with their father Luigi. In 2021 the company registered as a Benefit Company. In 2024, FOREL under the leadership of Marco Bizzarri (former CEO of Gucci) acquired the majority stake.
The production model is based on a network of over thirty craft ateliers across Italy. Leopoldo Cavalli serves as CEO, Eleonore Cavalli as Creative Director. Over 2,500 products; presence in 55+ countries with 30+ monobrand stores. Certifications: FSC® and PEFC™ (since 2019), ISO 9001 (since 2011). Design partners: Alessandro La Spada, Marc Ange, Mauro Lipparini, Roberto Lazzeroni, Marco Piva and others. Sectors: residences, luxury hospitality, yachts, aviation.
For interior designers and luxury hospitality planners seeking a comprehensive meta-luxury furnishing partner with deeply rooted Italian craft tradition, an international designer roster, documented yacht and aviation competence and a Benefit Company structure, Visionnaire is the undisputed reference brand at the highest luxury level of Made-in-Italy furniture design.
