The Hansen Family

The Hansen Family is a German furniture label founded by designer Gesa Hansen, born in 1981 in Arnsberg. She grew up in a Scandinavian-influenced family of joiners, designers and architects, studied at the Bauhaus University Weimar, and subsequently worked for Jean Nouvel in Paris, Studio H5 (Paris) and NDC in Tokyo. Since 2007 she has served as Art Director at her father Hans Hansen's company.

The Hansen Family grew from the impulse to unite family tradition with contemporary design. Decades-old archived sketches are combined with the functional demands of today and the workshop's craft heritage. Production takes place in the Sauerland region of Germany. Only ecologically grown oak from the surrounding local forests is used.

The label gained international recognition and multiple awards with the Remix collection. For planners seeking pieces with traceable origin, sustainable material choices and genuine craft depth, The Hansen Family is one of the few German addresses that links design history and production reality directly.
