Sika Design

Sika Design is a Danish family company for handcrafted rattan furniture. The company was founded in 1942 by Ankjær Andreasen in Jutland, Denmark — initially under the name "Jysk Siv og Halmkunst" (Jutish Reeds and Straw Art) producing baskets, reed shoes, lampshades and small home accessories from Danish natural materials. 1951 relocation to the island of Funen; renamed Sika — an acronym of Siv (reed), Kurve (baskets) and Andreasen, simultaneously a reference to the elegant sika deer. From 1956: own furniture production; the Renoir hanging chair (1956) remains in the range to this day. 1972: Ankjær Andreasen established the first own production facility in Malaysia. 1983: son Knud Andreasen took over management. 2015: daughter Louise Andreasen bought the company and founded Sika-Design USA. 2020: flagship store in Rynkeby, Funen, 430 m². 2022: cushion factory stake in Lithuania (together with Cane-Line). Warehouse today: 20,000 m² in Denmark. Production: Indonesia.

Scandinavia's oldest manufacturer of rattan and wicker furniture. Range: chairs, armchairs, sofas, tables and lighting — across the collections Icons (design classics), Originals, Affäire and Exterior. Classic designers: Arne Jacobsen, Nanna & Jørgen Ditzel, Viggo Boesen, Franco Albini & Franca Helg and Tove Kindt-Larsen. Materials: natural rattan weave (indoor), ArtFibre/synthetic rattan weave (outdoor) and teak (indoor and outdoor). Certifications: ISO 14001 and SA8000 (2008, among the first furniture manufacturers). Hospitality references: hotels, restaurants and cruise ships worldwide.

Sika Design is for interior designers and hospitality designers the Danish reference brand for timeless rattan furniture with an 80-year family history and a unique collection of restored design classics — handcrafted in Indonesia to Danish standards and equally suited for indoor and outdoor use.
