RODA was founded in 1991 by Roberto Pompa in Gavirate, Province of Varese, Lombardy. The name is a family acronym: RO for Roberto and his wife Rosaria, DA for their sons Daniele and Davide. The company remains family-owned. In 2004, RODA was the first outdoor furniture manufacturer in the world to design pieces with the cultural matrix of interior furniture — the IN and OUT concept. The brand's first participation at Salone del Mobile followed in 2005. In 2020, RODA acquired the carpentry workshop Bina 1935, completing its vertical integration.
Artistic director is Rodolfo Dordoni. Further designers include Gordon Guillaumier, Gabriella Zecca (stylist and colourist), Piero Lissoni and AMDL Circle. A collection was developed in collaboration with Missoni. The range covers sofas, lounge armchairs, chairs, bar stools, sun loungers, daybed systems, dining tables, side tables, outdoor kitchens and accessories. Materials: teak, aluminium, rope, concrete and ceramic. The "RODA for you" division handles bespoke contract projects. In 2025, the TESEO table (AMDL Circle) and the PHILIA sofa (Dordoni) won the Archiproducts Design Awards.
RODA is a primary address for planners seeking a consistent luxury outdoor contract programme led by an internationally renowned artistic director — with in-house industrial production, documented hospitality references and a collection that deliberately dissolves the seasonal boundary between interior and exterior.
