Prostoria

Prostoria is a Croatian furniture brand for upholstered furniture, chairs and tables — grown out of the company Kvadra, which was founded in Zagreb in 2008. After Kvadra won the Red Dot Design Award in 2012 with the Revolve sofa (patented 180° rotation mechanism that transforms the sofa into a bed), the renaming to Prostoria — Croatian for "room" — took place in 2013 as a signal of an expanded product strategy and a new design approach. Today Prostoria manufactures 100% in its own factory, located in Sveti Križ (Croatia) and uniting research and development, technology and production under one roof. The brand's second foundation: the heritage of Croatian Modernism — the architects Vjenceslav Richter, Ivan Vitić, Bernardo Bernardi, Marijan Haberle and Niko Kralj form the cultural frame of reference. This connection to Zagreb's modernist architecture shapes the design language: clear forms, Mediterranean sensibility and northern precision in one. Showroom: Design Post Cologne (one of 34 international brands in the anniversary exhibition "20 Years Design Post", 2025). CEO: Tomislav Knezović.

Iconic products: Revolve (patented 180° rotation mechanism, Red Dot Award 2012), Up-Lift sofa (Interior Award 2014), Polygon lounge armchair (Interior Award 2014 — homage to the modernist typology of the seat). Designer collaborations: Numen/ForUse (Layout, Trifidae, Klaster, Polygon — the Austrian-Croatian collective as principal portfolio designer), Grupa Studio, 3LHD (Monk collection, including for Hotel Dubrovnik Palace), Böttcher & Kayser, Filip Gordon Frank, Martin Pohl. Current extension: Umomoku — outdoor collection (armchairs, sofas, sun loungers). Materials: responsibly sourced natural materials, durable constructions, minimised production waste. Product categories: sofas, armchairs, chairs, tables, beds, modular systems, sofa beds.
