Prodir

Prodir is a Swiss brand for branded ballpoint pens and writing instruments — spun off in the 1980s from the Premec Group (founded in 1961 by Giorgio Pagani in the Swiss canton of Ticino). The brand focused from the outset on the promotional products market and developed into one of the internationally best-known addresses for high-quality, printable ballpoint pens. 2017: merger of Prodir and Premec to form the newly established Pagani Pens SA. Since then the company has been organised into two divisions: "Writing Instruments" (brands Prodir and Pigra) and "Components" (brand Premec). Headquarters: Lamone (near Lugano, Canton Ticino). Production sites: Novazzano (injection moulding and tool manufacturing) and Cadempino (development and production of writing systems, inks and refills). Over 420 employees. Complete in-house production: injection moulding, printing (pad and screen printing), assembly and refill production — all under own quality control. Design responsibility: Studio C of designer Christoph Schnug, Milan.

Product portfolio: DS ballpoint pen series (DS1–DS8), QS series (polygonal surface structure), Peak and Pattern (three-dimensional, textured casing surfaces), Connector (aluminium — durable, recyclable), True Biotic (biopolymers without plastic, fully home-compostable), QS40 PLA (bio-based bioplastic). All plastic models: at least 50% recycled/regenerated ABS, black and white models up to 100%. Personalisation: pad or screen printing on clip or barrel, customisable colours and finishes. Notebooks (since 2023): sustainably co-produced. Awards: iF Product Design Award, Promotional Gift Award, Good Design Award.

For companies, brand managers, event organisers and corporate gifting specialists seeking for corporate gifts, trade fairs, congresses, hospitality services and demanding international brand communication projects a Swiss writing instrument manufacturer with complete in-house production in Ticino that with the Swiss design principle (clear, precise, durable), up to 100% recycled or biopolymer-based material, a design partnership with Christoph Schnug (Studio C, Milan), product lines from DS to True Biotic and a sustainability approach that treats longevity as its primary ecological argument produces haptic brand ambassadors that lie in the hand daily — Prodir combines Swiss precision, consistent material sustainability and timeless design in a writing instrument that serves as a convincing brand ambassador worldwide.
