Kuusamo Log Houses (Kuusamo Hirsitalot Oy) is a Finnish family company for high-quality log houses and wooden houses — founded in the early 1990s by brothers Simo and Arto Orjasniemi in their home village in North Kuusamo, at the shore of Lake Kitkajärvi (near Lapland, northern Finland), with Arto creating the designs and Simo processing the logs. At the end of 1997 Jouko and Antti Virranniemi, owners of the local sawmill Pölkky Oy, joined the project. Kuusamo Hirsitalot Oy was formally founded at the beginning of 1998. The company today employs around 50 people, delivers 400–500 log buildings annually for the Finnish and export markets and achieves a turnover of approximately €20 million. Rating: AA credit rating.
