Form & Refine

Form & Refine is a Danish design brand for furniture, textiles and accessories, founded in 2018 in Denmark by Helle Herman Mortensen, Jonas Herman Pedersen and Lasse Lund Lauridsen — from the shared vision of creating a value-driven brand that explores materials and preserves our earth and craft cultures through a consistent design philosophy. The core principle is clear and radical at once: the best craft skills for a particular material are found in the country of origin of that material — and the most direct, fairest partnerships emerge with small workshops and cooperatives. For this reason, Form & Refine processes oak, ash and beech from European forests (including the Damsbo forest on the island of Funen, Denmark) with Danish cabinetmakers; alpaca wool from the Bolivian highlands in collaboration with Bolivian alpaca farmer cooperatives; recycled glass from 100% recyclable glass mouth-blown in aluminium moulds with a historic glass workshop in Martingança-Gare (Portugal). All production takes place in Europe. Creative direction: Herman Studio. Award: Blueprint chair in oak — German Design Award Gold.

Five sustainability principles: CO₂ reduction, durability, social fairness, economic benefit, exclusive use of natural materials. No aluminium, no conventional plastic, no chemical agents. Packaging from recycled cardboard or rPET. Signature products: Blueprint chair (oak, full, stackable, open backrest, slender legs; German Design Award Gold), Damsbo dining table (solid wood from the Damsbo forest), Position bench, Pinho glass collection (mouth-blown, 100% recycled glass, Portugal). Product range: chairs, tables, benches, stools, shelves, glasses, carafes, blankets, accessories. Listed on Archiproducts.

For architects and interior designers seeking for residential and contract projects a Danish design brand that since 2018 with the programme "material from the country of origin, artisanally processed on location" establishes the shortest possible and most transparent supply chain between raw material and finished product, has formulated an icon of radical material minimalism with the Blueprint chair (German Design Award Gold), and embodies one of the most coherent sustainability approaches in the Danish design scene with five systematic sustainability principles — Form & Refine is a good address in the segment of ethically and programmatically founded Danish natural material design furniture of the post-2018 generation.
