Ege Carpets

Ege Carpets is a Danish carpet manufacturer. The company was founded in 1938 by Mads Eg Damgaard in Herning, Denmark — initially with two looms in a small building. In 1953, Ege converted its entire production to carpets. In the 1970s, a 25,000 m² tufting factory was built in Herning. In 1996, Ege became the first carpet manufacturer in the world to receive ISO 14001 Environmental Management certification — and simultaneously the first and, at that time, only EMAS-registered carpet manufacturer in the world. Founder Mads Eg Damgaard died in 1999 aged 85. In 2010, Ege acquired 51 per cent of Danish manufacturer Bentzon Carpets (flat weave, founded 1976). Ege sells in approximately 80 countries.

The range covers carpet tiles, planks, broadloom and rugs — exclusively for the contract market (no retail line). Core sectors: hospitality, office and marine (cruise ships). The patented Millitron technology operates with 42,000 dye jets across 12 base colours and 65 accent colours, enabling photorealistic patterns to Class 33 rating. Ege is the only carpet manufacturer with a 100% Cradle to Cradle certified carpet range; production runs on 97% solar energy. Designer collaborations: Tom Dixon and Christian Lacroix. Reference projects: Tate Modern London, Virgin Media O2 and Westin Hotel (Marriott).

Ege Carpets is the internationally leading Danish carpet manufacturer for demanding contract projects — with the greatest technological design freedom in its category, the most comprehensive sustainability certification in the industry and a made-to-order principle with no minimum quantities for colour individualisation.
