CRISTINA Rubinetterie

CRISTINA Rubinetterie is an Italian tap manufacturer, founded in 1949 by Ezio Cristina in Gozzano (Province of Novara, Piedmont) — originally as "Cristina e Galliano" (co-founder Galliano left in 1978). Gozzano subsequently became the centre of a regional tapware district. In the 1960s CRISTINA made the transition from subcontractor to independent manufacturer: in 1965 the Impero series debuted and has remained in the catalogue to this day. In 1968 the company developed — among the first in Europe — the thermostatic mixer with temperature-sensitive bulb, and also pioneered an extensive range of painted coloured surfaces that redefined the aesthetics of the bathroom. In the 1980s sons Alberto and Riccardo Cristina took over company management and drove the industrial transformation. In the late 1980s SILFRA was acquired (drainage and plumbing systems, electronic and time-controlled taps). In 2001 GODIO (taps) was acquired. In 2006 CRISTINA Rubinetterie SpA, SILFRA SpA and GODIO SpA merged to form CRS SpA. In 2017 the company joined the Caleffi Group. Also in 2017: opening of the company's own showroom in Milan (Via Pontaccio, Brera; redesigned with Elisa Ossino Studio in 2023).

Four production sites in the upper Novarese area, 35,000 m², over 250 employees. Made in Italy, complete production chain in-house. Innovations: thermostatic mixer 1968 (among first in Europe), in-house single-lever cartridge production from 1994, stainless steel collection from 2003 (Centro Inox quality mark), patented ultra-thin Sandwich showerhead 2008. PVD treatment on stainless steel (brushed Aisi, brushed pink gold PVD, brushed black chrome PVD, brushed brass gold PVD). ALUX finish (brushed aluminium appearance — exclusive on the market). Green Building Council Italia member. LEED-compliant. Designers: Makio Hasuike (Esempio; SX — Archiproducts Design Award 2018), Busetti Garuti Redaelli (Italy — Archiproducts Design Award 2017, ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award 2017), Soo K. Chan (Fractal — Archiproducts Design Award 2022, German Design Award 2023 Bath & Wellness, Good Design Award), Bellucci Mazzoni Progetti (Piega — Archiproducts Design Award 2023 with sustainability special mention), CRISTINA Design Lab (Tilde finish). Kitchen filter tap KT455: Sustainable Award Archiproducts 2024.

For architects and bathroom planners seeking a northern Italian tap manufacturer with over 75 years of company history, its own stainless steel expertise, in-house cartridge production and a designer portfolio of international standing, CRISTINA Rubinetterie is the most precise Gozzano address — anchored in the Caleffi Group, with a Milan showroom as a permanent inspiration interface for planners and architects.
