Christopher Guy
Christopher Guy is an international luxury furniture brand, founded in 1993 by Christopher Guy Harrison — a British designer born in Middlesbrough (England, 3 January 1960), raised in Spain and France. Already at the age of 16 he helped his stepfather build a house near Saint-Tropez, where the quality of the craftsmanship left a lasting impression. His objective from the outset was to create uniquely beautiful designer furniture appealing to an international audience. In 1993 Harrison founded the company Harrison & Gil, which initially launched with a line of decorative mirror frames. In 1999 he acquired and built a complex of one million square feet in Central Java (Indonesia) — today the house's manufacturing base with approximately 1,400 carving, sculpting and finishing specialists in a complex architecturally reminiscent of a Spanish monastery. In this jungle-surrounded complex, the CG Atelier, all Christopher Guy furniture is handcrafted. In 2006 the company was renamed Christopher Guy and positioned as a complete luxury lifestyle brand. Christopher Guy Harrison died in 2020 after a period of illness. Since then his long-time friend Tony Mitchell has continued to lead the company in his spirit. Presence: over 39 cities worldwide with showrooms in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Design identity: fusion of European aesthetics with Hollywood Regency glamour — timelessness, elegance and beauty. Defining design element: the patented Chris-X leg design (also: Chris-cross, pronounced kris-krôs) — inspired by the corset waist-line of Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind and by the balancing posture of the ballerina; patented in the USA, China and Europe. Further signatures: the "Silk-Slice" collection; the "Canopy" collection (high back with an arching canopy in hand-carved mahogany); "Bird's Nest" headboards (convex hand-carving in wood and velvet). Primary material: Indonesian mahogany (durable, characterful, prized by the world's leading furniture houses). Range: sofas, chaises, armchairs, tables, beds, consoles, commodes, mirrors, lighting, decorative objects, rugs (collaboration with Nourison). Awards: British Interior Design Association Outstanding Design Award 2004; Las Vegas Design Centre "Design Icon" prize. References: Ritz Carlton Tokyo, Claridges London, The Dorchester London. Hollywood appearances: Casino Royale, The Thomas Crown Affair. Clientele includes Christina Aguilera, Kim Kardashian et al.
For architects and interior designers seeking an international luxury furniture brand for luxury hospitality projects, high-end residences and representative private spaces — one that draws its design identity from the patented Chris-X leg, the Hollywood Regency heritage of its founder, and the craft discipline of 1,400 specialists in Central Java, with Bond film appearances and reference projects at Claridges and the Ritz Carlton as reliable evidence of its ambition — Christopher Guy is the most precise British-international address in the luxury designer furniture segment: a house that has understood elegance as an inalienable design principle since 1993.
