CEAM (Costruzioni Elettromeccaniche Ascensori e Montacarichi) S.r.l. is an Italian manufacturer and service provider for vertical transport, founded in 1947 in Bologna — in the post-war period as a small craft business for the maintenance and repair of lifts. Over the following decades the company specialised increasingly in the planning and construction of lifts and goods lifts, developing into a recognised quality manufacturer in the national market. In 1983 CEAM began acquiring companies in the lift sector, laying the foundation for the later CEAM group model. In 1985 CEAM joined the Otis Group, the global market leader in vertical mobility and a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
