Caracole
Caracole is an American furniture brand, founded in October 2009 in Greensboro/High Point (North Carolina) — the centre of the American furniture industry — by Markor Furniture (Markor International Home Furnishings, founded in 1990 by Richard Feng in Beijing), following the acquisition of Schnadig International Corporation, an American furniture manufacturer with roots in the 19th century. The name derives from dressage equestrian terminology: the caracole is an elegant half-turn of horse and rider — for the founders a symbol of a programmatic new direction in the luxury furniture segment. Core philosophy: not collection thinking but individual pieces that stand alone while functioning in mix-and-match combinations. Design DNA: classics meeting modernity, with references to Hollywood glamour, Art Deco and contemporary avant-garde.
Design team: Christopher Sandomenico (at Schnadig since 2002, then at Caracole; sources of inspiration: antiques, architectural history, international furniture movements), Melanie Dunn (Product Design Specialist). Collaborations: Claudio Bellini Studio (organic forms and material contrasts). Portfolios: Caracole Classics, Signature, Modern, Compositions and Couture (custom upholstery programme: 50+ frames, 35 finishes, 350+ fabrics and colours). Materials: solid wood, marble, granite, metal, leather, high-quality fabrics, gold and silver leaf. Three brand principles: Sensory, Elegant, Hopeful. Distribution: 40–50+ countries worldwide. Presence in film and television productions, hotels, universities.
For interior designers and hospitality planners seeking an American luxury brand with strong design identity, a deliberate personality claim for each individual piece and broad custom upholstery capacity, Caracole offers a well-calibrated alternative to European premium brands — with production depth, international distribution and the solid craft heritage of Schnadig in the background.
