BRUNE

BRUNE Sitzmöbel GmbH is a German seating and office furniture company headquartered in Königswinter-Oberpleis (North Rhine-Westphalia), founded in 1945 by Heinrich Brune as a household goods trading business. Wolfgang Brune introduced in-house production of kitchen benches, chairs and tables — initially in a former cinema studio hall in the Siebengebirge hills, from 1961 in the company's first own production building in Königswinter-Oberpleis, which remains the company's headquarters to this day. In the 1990s BRUNE acquired the former East German company ROTTA in Saxony-Anhalt from the Treuhandanstalt following reunification. In 2014 Andreas Fertig acquired all shares from the founding family and became sole shareholder; his wife Christina Fertig serves as authorised signatory responsible for human resources and marketing. The company philosophy: "Quality made in Germany" — coupled with exclusive collaboration with German designers.

Designer collaborations and awards: Andreas Ostwald (SKID, LIMUN, ALVO), Uwe Sommerlade (LOU, SALT & PEPPER, UNIGAMMA), Prof. Matthias Rexforth (FLOW, X_TEND), Eduard Euwens (GRAND HIGH), Delphin Design (TIMBER, STACKLINE), Kressel + Schelle (AXIO). German Brand Award Winner 2016 and 2017 (both times category Industry Excellence in Branding, German Design Council). German Design Award: LIMUN Winner, GRAND CHAIR/GRAND TABLE Special Mention, ALVO Winner, FLOW Selection, GRAND HIGH Winner 2024. ICONIC AWARD: LIMUN, ALVO, FLOW, AXIO, UNIGAMMA, LOV, MID, GRAND HIGH (all Winner). Range: seating for offices, public spaces and gastronomy.

For architects, interior designers and facility managers in the German-speaking world, BRUNE is the most reliable owner-managed seating manufacturer with a non-Bauhaus design ambition — rooted in an 80-year family tradition, consistent in its Made-in-Germany production and with one of the densest award records among German office furniture manufacturers.
