Brühl

brühl & sippold GmbH is a German upholstered furniture family business, founded in 1948 in Bad Steben (Hof district, Upper Franconia/Bavaria) — initially as a mattress and upholstered furniture workshop. Since then the company has produced exclusively seating furniture from its workshop in Bad Steben: sofas, armchairs and beds. Management passed to the third generation, and with this generational transition the traditional range was consistently expanded to include modern and functional upholstered furniture. As an ecology pioneer among German upholstered furniture manufacturers, brühl received the Bavarian Environmental Medal in 2002 for outstanding contributions to environmental protection. In October 2009 brühl was the first seating furniture manufacturer anywhere entitled to carry the Blue Angel environmental label — for low-pollutant materials and resource-saving manufacturing methods. Since then brühl has also held the "Climate-Neutral Furniture Manufacturer" certification. The company building is constructed to building biology standards; all workplaces meet exemplary health standards; the company draws its electricity exclusively from renewable sources.

Materials: FSC-certified wood (wherever possible from the local region), salt-free tanned leather upholstery in saddler quality, fabrics to Öko-Tex standard. Many covers are removable. Iconic products: roro (functional sofa in three variants: classic, soft, spring), moule (corner sofa convertible to daybed), four two soft, easy pieces forever, tam, alba, quint (sofa bed). Awards: over 60 design prizes for design and quality. Made in Germany.

For architects and interior designers seeking an owner-managed German upholstered furniture workshop with proven ecological expertise, a singular award profile (Blue Angel as first recipient, 60+ design prizes) and a range that allows functionality to dissolve into formal elegance, brühl & sippold is the most reliable Upper Franconian address — with 75 years of continuity in craft and conviction.
