blomus is a German design brand from Sundern (North Rhine-Westphalia), whose company history begins in 1921: Karl Scheffer-Klute founded a company in Sundern (SKS Sundern) for the manufacture of bicycle pumps and parts. In 1961 the family made the transition to gift and design items from copper, brass, pewter and stainless steel — materials closely connected to the industrial history of North Rhine-Westphalia (formerly a centre of the steel and coal industry). In the year 2000 the brand name blomus was chosen and the company reoriented as a design brand. Today the 4th generation of the Blome family leads the company. The brand draws an explicit connection between its geographic origin and its material philosophy.
Design philosophy: honesty of materials, purity of form, minimal style — beyond short-lived trends; aesthetics and pragmatism as equally valid goals. Core material: stainless steel (historically dominant, today supplemented by stoneware, smoked cork, linen, concrete, wood). Colour palette: historically monochromatic, now extended with soft, discreet tones. Sustainability: sustainable material selection, energy-efficient production, recyclability, conscious consumer communication. Key collections: Kuon (furniture, design Kazushige Miyake — minimal, refined seating), Fera (steel table collection). Range: bathroom accessories, kitchen articles (tableware, wine accessories), lighting, furniture (chairs, tables, coffee tables), outdoor, textile accessories.
For architects, interior designers and product specifiers seeking a coherent German quality design range from bathroom accessories to furniture, blomus is the only brand that reinterprets 100+ years of metalworking craft from the Ruhr region in contemporary minimalist design.
