Azzurra Ceramica is an Italian manufacturer of ceramic sanitaryware and bathroom furnishings, founded in 1985 in Civita Castellana (VT) — in Lazio's historic ceramics district, whose tradition reaches back to Etruscan times. The current corporate structure, uniting four founding families, dates from 1991. The company employs around 120 people, operates approximately 30,000 m² of production space and manufactures around 300,000 units annually, exported to over 35 countries across all continents. In 2007 Angeletti Ruzza Design began as artistic directors. From 2019 DGO_Diego Grandi Office took over corporate identity, catalogue and communication redesign. A Milan showroom opened in 2018.
Philosophy: "Bespoke Bathrooms" — custom-made ceramic sanitaryware in individual dimensions, cuts and colours. Azzurra was the world's first company in 2010 to develop a toilet that flushes with just 2.7 litres (Water Saving Project; current standard 3 litres). Technologies: Vortex flush system, Easy Clean, SoloDue® patent, anti-slip treatment, No Drop System. Designer collaborations: Daniel Libeskind (Hera collection, inspired by neoclassical marble sculptures), Alessandro Mendini, Gordon Guillaumier, Martí Guixé, Matteo Ragni, Paolo Ulian and many others. Awards: Compasso d'Oro honourable mention (2011), three nominations at Designpreis Deutschland (2011), ADI Design Index (2010), Red Dot Award (2009), iF Product Design Award (2009).
For architects and bathroom planners requiring bespoke production and design depth, Azzurra Ceramica is the specialised Italian premium brand for ceramic sanitaryware — a unique technology leader in water saving, with a demonstrably international design network and proven award credentials.
