ATENA S.p.A. was founded in 1988 by Mauro and Ruggero Barbuio in Gruaro (Province of Venice, Veneto) — around 60 km from Venice. The company's roots lay in the production of materials for dry construction systems, and it quickly became Italy's leading manufacturer in the metal suspended ceilings sector. The flagship product of the early years was the Atena Steel Strong T-Grid range, internationally patented; the Atena Easy model with stainless steel hooks is considered particularly innovative. All production is 100% at the Gruaro facility (via A. De Gasperi, 52) — from coil and sheet processing through surface treatments (powder coating, sublimation) to quality control. ATENA distributes in over 50 countries through a dealer and partner network.
The range covers metal suspended ceilings (lay-in and clip-in panels, stave ceilings, open-cell ceilings, perforated sheet ceilings, baffle systems, anti-seismic and acoustic systems, acoustic hanging islands) and metal façade cladding (custom-made modules, expanded metal panels, corrugated/perforated/flat sheet, solar shading/louvres). A specific market segment is naval fit-out: ATENA supplies custom ceiling systems for the interiors of prestigious cruise ships. Partner company Atena Lux produces coordinated architectural lighting that can be combined with the ceiling systems.
For architects, interior designers and naval outfitters, ATENA is relevant as a Made-in-Italy specialist for high-quality metal suspended ceilings and façade systems — with an international patent history, fully in-house production and expertise in demanding projects both on land and at sea.
