Askia is a Romanian design and office furniture brand based in Bucharest, with production in Mizil. It carries forward the legacy of Ubikubi, a brand founded in 2015 that established itself as one of Romania's best-known design names, placing 86 products on international markets. In 2020, Ubikubi merged with ARCADE, an established Romanian company providing complete services for custom office spaces and acoustic solutions. The combined entity launched under the name ASKIA — derived from the Romanian word "AȘCHIA" (wood chip), evoking the saying: "the chip does not jump far from the trunk." Creative Director is Dragos Motica; together with over 140 specialists at ARCADE, he oversees development and production.
The focus is on office and contract furniture and acoustic solutions. Collections: Atelier (chairs and tables in oak/ash, industrial-contemporary, stackable), Fair and Square, Tipro, Version 3 (bar stool, ash), Kameleon Office Booth (modular office cabin, expandable), Ripple (sofa with ruched edges), acoustic ceiling panels, pendant lights with maritime forms. Materials: oak, ash, metal, textile, wool felt. All products are made in Romania.
For architects and workplace designers, Askia is relevant as a Central and Eastern European contract brand combining design quality with acoustic expertise — delivering complete office concepts (furniture, booths, ceilings, lighting) from a single source.
