AMURA

AMURA is a southern Italian furniture label based in Altamura (Apulia), founded by Emanuel Gargano and Anton Cristell. The name deliberately links several layers of meaning: "amore" (love), "solar eclipse" in Tahitian and "wide smile" in Japanese — but above all it stands for the Mediterranean warmth of its birthplace Altamura and the fragile beauty of southern Italy. The company defines itself as a research laboratory for shapes, materials and trends, combining craft tradition with a contemporary design stance. All products are Made in Italy; the range covers sofas, armchairs, benches, tables, beds, shelving and sideboards, as well as accessories.

Key collections include: Lapis (modular sofa system inspired by the organic forms of ancient cobblestones, Gargano/Cristell), Panis (sectional sofa, Gargano/Cristell/Rosaria Copeta), Uchiva (lounge armchair, Quaglio Simonelli Design, inspired by the Japanese fan), and Noa (armchair, Stefano Bigi). Materials include solid wood, leather, marble and metal. AMURA has received multiple awards at the Archiproducts Design Awards (2020, 2021 and 2024) and won the Wallpaper Design Award. The company is oriented towards contract projects for hotels and public living and waiting areas.

For hospitality planners and interior designers, AMURA is relevant when southern Italian craftsmanship, organic formal language and demonstrable international design awards are sought for upholstered furniture in premium contract projects.
