UniFor is an Italian manufacturer of office and contract furniture, founded in 1969 as a subsidiary of the Molteni Group. Angelo Molteni identified early that open-plan offices required a new approach to furnishing. His son Piero Molteni developed the company's strategic direction; the current headquarters and production facility are in Turate (Province of Como). In 2011, UniFor received the Compasso d'Oro career award recognising the full body of work — one of Italy's most prestigious design prizes.
The company has consistently worked with architects and designers: Jean Nouvel (Fondation Cartier, the "Less" desk series; "Cases" system 1999), Renzo Piano (Le Mur Mince), Norman Foster, Álvaro Siza, Michele De Lucchi (UniCredit Verona), Luca Meda (Progetto 25, one of the first industrial partition systems), Aldo Rossi (Paris armchair, Cartesio bookcase, Bonnefanten Museum Maastricht) and Pierluigi Cerri. Contract references include Louis Vuitton International Paris, WilmerHale Washington DC, Lever House New York, Maison Balenciaga Paris (Hôpital Laennec), Stavros Niarchos Foundation Athens, EssilorLuxottica Milan, the new Fondation Cartier at Place du Palais-Royal Paris (Jean Nouvel, 2025) and Casa Italia London Buckingham Gate. A photovoltaic system has been in operation since 2009.
UniFor is the canonical office furniture manufacturer of the Molteni Group for planning tasks at the highest architectural level — with a documented track record across museums, cultural and legal institutions, luxury brand headquarters and global corporate campuses.
