UMAGE is a Danish design and furniture brand, founded in Copenhagen in 2008 by CEO Jacob Nannestad and Chief Creative Developer Søren Ravn Christensen. The name is the Danish word for "making an effort" — fitting for a brand that set out from the start to make high-quality Scandinavian design accessible worldwide. Until 2018, the company traded as Vita Copenhagen; the current name accompanied the expansion from lighting into furniture and home accessories.
Two early products established international recognition: the Silvia pendant lamp (2010, pinecone form) and the Eos lights made from real goose feathers (2012). Since 2018, the range covers lighting as well as sofas, chairs, beds, storage and accessories — all in flat-packable form, FSC-certified, with a 10-year warranty. Materials include recycled textiles, leather with Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification and RDS-licensed feathers. A four-day workweek has been in place since 2019. UMAGE is present in over 1,500 retail locations across more than 50 countries.
For interior planners and hospitality buyers seeking Scandinavian lighting design with a documented sustainability profile, compact logistics and complementary furniture from a single source, UMAGE is one of the most consistent Danish design brands in the accessible premium segment.
