Passoni Titanio is an Italian bicycle manufacturer — founded in 1989 by Luciano Passoni in Vimercate (Province of Monza-Brianza, near Milan, Lombardy). The founding story is of exceptional precision: Luciano Passoni, an enthusiastic amateur cyclist, encountered another rider named Amelio Riva on the climb to the Madonna del Ghisallo above Lake Como — the rider was on a self-built titanium frame, a material then entirely unknown in the cycling world. Passoni was inspired and founded the company. At EICMA 1989, Passoni Titanio presented Italy's first titanium frame: 1,200 grams, a benchmark for the entire industry.
