Audo Copenhagen

Audo Copenhagen is a Danish design brand that emerged in June 2023 from the unification of MENU and by Lassen under a shared name. MENU was founded in Copenhagen in 1978 by Simon Hansen as Danish Steel House; his son Bjarne Hansen built the brand into a lifestyle label, and grandson Joachim Kornbek Engell-Hansen took over creative direction. By Lassen carries the legacy of Danish architect brothers Mogens Lassen (including the Kubus collection) and Flemming Lassen (Tired Man) — both icons of 20th-century Danish modernism. In May 2022, Design Holding (the group behind B&B Italia, Flos, Louis Poulsen, Arclinea, Maxalto, Azucena and FENDI Casa) acquired Designers Company, Audo's parent entity. Audo Copenhagen is now part of this global high-end design portfolio with distribution in over 130 countries.

The name Audo derives from the Latin phrase "Ab Uno Disce Omnes" (from one, learn all) — coined by Bjarne Hansen when conceiving Audo House. Audo House in the Nordhavn district of Copenhagen (Aarhusgade 130, opened 2019, designed by Norm Architects) combines a hotel, concept shop, café, restaurant, co-working space and brand headquarters under one roof. Aesthetic philosophy: "Soft Minimalism" — clean lines, earthy tones, natural materials, tactile surfaces, no superfluous ornament. Design partners: Norm Architects (Hashira, Zuma), Ib Kofod-Larsen, Colin King, as well as collaborations with Kinfolk magazine. Products: furniture, lighting, home accessories. Showrooms worldwide, including New York City.

For architects and interior designers, Audo Copenhagen is the contemporary Danish address that connects over a century of Scandinavian design tradition with a consistently global, emotion-driven outlook — backed by one of the strongest international design groups.
