Five 2026 launches at Blå Station
SOMA sofa system, Frankfurter chair, and extensions to Villhem, Rutan and Able

At Salone del Mobile 2026, Blå Station presented five product developments: the new modular sofa system SOMA by Geckeler Michels, the wooden chair Frankfurter by Johan Ansander, and three extensions of existing programmes — Villhem and Rutan by Bernstrand & Borselius, and Able Table by Lindau, Borselius & Bernstrand. The Swedish manufacturer remains consistent with its profile of seating designed equally for contract and residential applications.
SOMA — Geckeler Michels
The SOMA modular sofa system reduces component count to a minimum: two frames, two foam moulds, two slipcovers, two tables. The slipcovers are conceived from the outset as integrated, removable elements — they can be replaced or refreshed, extending product life and supporting single-material separation at end of life. The cushion form features distinctive bulbous curves while keeping proportions restrained. SOMA configures into classic L-shaped sofas as well as waiting areas, lounges and collaborative zones.
Frankfurter — Johan Ansander
The Frankfurter chair references the robust everyday chairs of the 1930s. The frame is made from moulded Swedish beech, a process well established in the wood furniture industry. Three variants form the family: Frankfurter (base version), Frankfurter Dressed (with upholstered seat) and Frankfurter Table. The transition between backrest and rear legs is deliberately exposed as a visible construction detail. Ansander, who joined Blå Station in 2020, cites the shape of his own forearm as inspiration.
Villhem — Bernstrand & Borselius
The Villhem seating family, introduced in 2025, was extended in 2026 with a low-back armchair and a footstool — each available in both existing executions: one with a compression-moulded, layer-glued wooden seat, the other as a Supersoft variant with internal steel frame, nozag springs and padded leather upholstery. Distinctive features are the openly visible construction with zinc die-cast joints and steel tube frame. The matching Villhem Table is available with chromed or powder-coated frame and square, rectangular or round tabletops.
Rutan — Bernstrand & Borselius
Rutan is the slimmer sibling of the RUT family introduced in 2022. Instead of solid oak feet with steel beam, Rutan uses slender steel legs, optionally with castors and in a variant with an extended leg terminating in a tabletop. Individual modules — stool, seat with backrest, corner module — connect via magnets to form sofas, corner configurations or benches; alternatively, shared leg pairs allow more permanent assembly. Upholstery uses nozag springs and moulded polyurethane.
Able Table — Lindau, Borselius & Bernstrand
Originally introduced in 2025 as a coffee table, Able Table has been extended with a 72 cm high version for dining, conference and office use. Four frame lengths combine with two tabletop lengths each — with or without overhang on the short sides. A compact single-person workstation rounds out the programme. The unifying element across the Able family is a die-cast zinc knot in combination with steel tube construction; tabletops are available in various materials, frames in different colours.
