Lapalma is an Italian design furniture company specialising in chairs, stools, armchairs and tables in wood and metal — founded in the 1960s by brothers Dario and Romano Marcato in Cadoneghe (Province of Padua, Veneto, north-east Italy). The founding philosophy: high-quality, lasting furniture in clean proportions from natural materials, sustainability-oriented from the outset — at a time when sustainability was not yet a widely used concept. At the end of the 1980s, Lapalma moved from a garage operation in Cadoneghe into a large, modernly equipped factory. Today the company exports to over 80 countries worldwide. In-house production of all main components. ISO 9001, ISO 14001 certified; FSC-certified wood. Since 2013: Francesco Rota as artistic director.
Designer collaborations and awards: Shin & Tomoko Azumi (LEM bar stool — design classic, Good Design Award; AP stool — single piece of bent plywood without connecting elements, Green Good Design Award), Karri Monni (Thin chair collection — Schöner Wohnen "100 new classics of the 21st century"; Miunn stool — Interior Innovation Award 2012; Mutka table, Laaka lounge chair), Francesco Rota (artistic director since 2013; OLO, CUT chair; expansion into lounge seating, light office, outdoor, residential), Antti Kotilainen (Seela chair collection 2020), Mario Ferrarini (HAWI chair).
