Rolf Benz was founded in 1964 by upholsterer Rolf Benz in Nagold, northern Black Forest, Baden-Württemberg. Benz, born in 1933 in Nagold, passed away on 28 January 2025 at the age of 91. He led the company until 1999. In 1980, the Westphalian Welle Group acquired the company; a stock market listing followed in 1994, and a withdrawal from the exchange in 2000. In 2018, Chinese company Kuka Investment and Management Co. Ltd. (subsidiary of Jason Furniture, Hangzhou) acquired Rolf Benz. CEO since 2014 is Jürgen Mauß. The company employs approximately 400 people.

Production is fully integrated across two facilities near Nagold (Mötzingen and Pfalzgrafenweiler): frame production, cutting, sewing, pre-upholstery, upholstery and final inspection — all in Germany. Rolf Benz is active in over 50 countries; 50 per cent of revenue is generated by exports. Distribution runs through 300 specialist retailers in Germany and 250 international partners. The entire upholstered furniture collection carries the Blue Angel eco-label and the "Möbel Made in Germany" quality mark. Contract references include the Grand Hyatt Berlin, Allianz Arena Munich, Lufthansa Business Senator Lounge at London Heathrow and 25hours Hotel Zurich.

Rolf Benz is Germany's best-known premium upholstered furniture manufacturer. For contract planners, the dedicated Rolf Benz CONTRACT division offers bespoke solutions — from individual armchairs to full lobby furnishings, with individually configurable covers (over 100 leathers, over 200 fabrics) and a fully verified German production chain.
