Cattelan Italia is an Italian furniture manufacturer, founded in 1979 by Giorgio Cattelan and his wife Silvia in the Province of Vicenza (Veneto). Giorgio Cattelan grew up as the youngest of seven brothers in the joinery tradition of his father, who ran a well-known workshop in Thiene (near Vicenza). The first products were marble and crystal tables, crafted using avant-garde techniques for the export market — a strategically unusual entry that immediately distinguished Cattelan from the typical wood furniture manufacturers of the region. The first plant in Carré (VI) was built in 1982, and the range was extended in 1989 to include chairs and bookshelves. From 1995 sons Lorenzo and Paolo joined the company. In 2011 Cattelan Italia acquired the Florentine upholstered furniture brand Arketipo (high-end segment), which has since been led by Lorenzo Cattelan. Since 2014 Paolo Cattelan has led the company. Distribution: 140+ countries. Flagship store: Via Larga 23, Milan. Carré showroom: 3,000 m², exposed concrete, 7-metre-high windows. 100% Made in Italy.
Core competence tables: Cattelan Italia is internationally recognised for its table and chair range, combining glass, marble, ceramics (Keramik Collection: Skorpio Keramik as the first model, Butterfly), metal and wood in timeless contemporary forms. Iconic: Butterfly table (core+ design, sinuous steel base, floating glass top), Keramik Collection with patented curved ceramic base (Napoleon family). Designers: Andrea Lucatello (Bach table), Archirivolto (Axel bar stool), Ono Design (Fulham bookcase), Alessio Bassan, Paolo Cattelan. Currently: Paolo Cattelan has led the brand since 2014, positioning Cattelan Italia consistently in the international high-end residential sector. Sustainability: regional supplier network.
For architects and interior designers, Cattelan Italia is the most reliable Venetian address for contemporary tables and seating in high-performance materials — with a 45-year history consistently based on material mix, manufacturing innovation and international distribution, and a family management that has passed from the founding generation to the third.
