Branca (full name: Branca Lisboa) is a Portuguese design furniture brand based in Lisbon, founded and led as a designer brand by Marco Sousa Santos — one of Portugal's most influential designers and curators. Since 1995 Santos has been founder and director of Proto Design, founder of the Experimenta Design biennial (Lisbon) and taught at universities. He works with Branca as art director and lead designer. Production: northern Portugal, in close collaboration with a select group of wood craft workshops and experts for which the region is renowned. Brand paradigm: "Design Diligence" — every product is only launched once function, quality, ergonomics, structural integrity, finish and appearance come together as a whole.
