TOTO Ltd. is a Japanese sanitary ware manufacturer headquartered in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. Kazuchika Okura founded the company on 15 May 1917 as Toyo Toki Company, Ltd. — motivated by the ambition to produce Western-style sanitary ceramics in Japan. The current TOTO brand name was introduced in 1970. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and employs approximately 34,700 people.

TOTO operates production facilities in nine countries and has maintained its European headquarters in Düsseldorf since 2012. In 2009, TOTO acquired German sanitary manufacturer Pagette. The flagship product is the Washlet — a bidet toilet seat launched in 1980, with over 50 million units sold worldwide. Further core technologies include the CEFIONTECT and HYDROTECT ceramic glazes (antibacterial). The range covers toilets, washbasins, bathtubs, unit bathrooms, faucets, system kitchens and wellness products. Contract references include the Shangri-La Hotel London at The Shard, Boeing 777 business class and the Louvre in Paris.

For planners and project buyers in the luxury hospitality segment, TOTO is the global technology benchmark for bathroom equipment — with a documented reference history in flagship hotel properties on every continent.
